$12K Spent on Radical Transgender Training for Teachers—What Were They Thinking?

A Southern California school district just forked over $12,000 for a six-hour training session on transgender inclusion—hosted by a far-left activist group, no less. The San Dieguito Union High School District, located in northern San Diego County, paid this hefty sum to TransFamily Support Services, a group that seems to be more about pushing an ideology than offering actual educational value.

According to an Instagram post from the group, they trained 1,100 staff members in a mere six hours. They made sure to highlight how crucial their work is, especially with all the “anti-trans rhetoric” allegedly infiltrating classrooms and campuses. Their message? Teachers and staff must be armed with the knowledge to “support and include trans youth” to make sure those students “feel safe” and “valued” at school. Because, of course, the best way to show support is by turning a blind eye to the fact that the organization is steeped in questionable practices and controversial beliefs.

Erika Sanzi, Director of Outreach at Parents Defending Education, didn’t hold back; she blasted the district for teaming up with a group that she says “deals in pseudoscience, ideology, and deception of parents.” And honestly, she’s got a point—TransFamily Support Services has some seriously radical views when it comes to transgender youth. They’re all about providing children with binders and “packers” to help them “feel at home in their bodies,” especially those without “affirming families” to buy them these items. Oh, and they endorse irreversible surgeries and medical interventions for minors, too.

The cherry on top? This group has been linked to Johanna Olson-Kennedy, the head of a trans youth health center, who’s facing a lawsuit over the removal of a 14-year-old girl’s breasts. And, to make matters worse, Olson-Kennedy’s significant other, Aydin, has openly promoted surgeries for minors—without the need for therapist approval. The whole thing reeks of a serious lack of oversight, and honestly, how did this ever get a green light?

Perhaps it’s time for federal transparency mandates to put a stop to this madness because this kind of partnership with radical groups should definitely not be happening in public schools.
