Popping on stage with Vice President Kamala Harris in Selma, Alabama, was Attorney General Merrick Garland. Taking aim at voter ID laws, the duo wasted no time in throwing down the race card as they commemorated the Bloody Sunday attacks on civil rights marchers in Selma. In his remarks, Garland tried claiming that black men have never been truly free in America.

Appearing at Selma’s Tabernacle Baptist Church, Garland ensured the racist theme of the day was heard clearly. “Those measures include practices and procedures that make voting more difficult; redistricting maps that disadvantage minorities; and changes in voting administration that diminish the authority of locally elected or nonpartisan election administrators. Such measures threaten the foundation of our system of government.”

Garland then shifted gears towards the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division. He proclaimed that voter integrity laws are “discriminatory, burdensome, and unnecessary restrictions on access to the ballot, including those related to mail-in voting, the use of drop boxes, and voter ID requirements. That is why we are working to block the adoption of discriminatory redistricting plans that dilute the vote of black voters and other voters of color.”

Watching the AG push such an agenda is dangerous. It clearly says to them people of color are having their voices silenced because they don’t have an ID they can vote with. As polling places accept a state-issued ID like a driver’s license, that solves the problem for most Americans. For those who can’t drive due to a disability or something, they are given a non-driver’s ID so they can be readily identified.

This is nothing more than the left yet again making a problem where there isn’t one and trying to swipe the race card for a transaction that isn’t based in that currency.
