Former President Donald J. Trump believes that the CIA played a significant role in hiding documents about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. At worst, he even suggests the CIA might have been directly involved in the assassination itself.

Trump promised to release the file to the American people if he wins another term in the Oval Office. He made this bold declaration on the “All-In Podcast” with hosts Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, David Sacks, and David Friedberg, who cover everything from economics and tech to politics and poker.

When asked if he would release the Kennedy file, Trump immediately agreed that if he were re-elected, he would do so. Trump even managed not to flinch when Calacanis questioned whether he agreed with independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s assertion that the CIA killed his uncle. Trump revealed that his Cabinet had persuaded him to hold off on releasing all the information.

Palihapitiya pushed the issue as the former president was about to leave for dinner. He didn’t want Trump to leave without explaining his change of heart. Palihapitiya reminded Trump of his 2016 promise to release the JFK file and how he backtracked, saying he wasn’t ready.

What’s in the file? Did parts of the U.S. government assassinate Kennedy over Vietnam? Trump explained that while he released some information, he faced pushback from his administration on going further. They must have been pretty convincing because Trump decided to hold back.

Trump admitted that respected members of his team urged him not to release everything. They argued that it needed more time, and Trump, valuing their opinion, complied. But this time, he insists he’s just going to do it.

Calacanis then pushed further, asking if Trump believed the CIA killed JFK. Trump’s response was murky, suggesting the CIA was probably involved in the suppression, if not the assassination itself. This left viewers wondering exactly what Trump believes.

The JFK file is more than a piece of relevant history. The suppression of this information reeks of something sinister. Trump now seems willing to let the people decide for themselves, which is exactly what he should do.

If part of the U.S. government was involved in Kennedy’s assassination, the American people should know. It will help us understand how far back our government went rogue and ensure steps are taken to prevent future abuses. This is just another reason to vote for Trump in November. You know President Joe Biden won’t release the file.
